To own a slave For
a slave to be Yours, no kolar is even needed. A kolar is so a run away slave may returned to her Master, or simply because
He wishes it. To own a slave all that is needed is to have her. To prove to her she is slave she must submit. All that is
needed is for her to eat from Your hand. Most Masters will ask her if she is submitting to be sure she understands, and she

the new Master will usually ask the slave the following three questions:

The Master will then, if it pleases Him, give the girl
her new slave-name, which can be taken from her or changed at any time, according to his whim.

Kamchak and I regarded her. "Yes," she wept, her head to the rug, "I am zealous to please the fancy of Tuchuks." I
translated for Kutaituchik and Kamchak. "Ask," demanded Kutaituchik, "if she begs to be a slave girl." I translated the
question. "Yes," wept Elizabeth Cardwell, "yes I beg to be a slave" "I grant her wish," said Kutaituchik. Then to
a warrior nearby, he said, "Bring meat." The warrior leapt from the dais and, in a few moments, returned with a handful
of roasted bosk meat. Kutaituchik gestured for the girl, trembling, to be brought forward, and the two warriors brought
her to him, placing her directly before him. He took the meat in his hand and gave it to Kamchak, who bit into it, a bit
of juice running at the side of his mouth; Kamchak then held the meat to the girl. "Eat," I told her. Elizabeth Cardwell
took the meat in her two hands, confined before her by slave bracelets and the chain of the Sirik, and, bending her head,
the hair falling forward, ate it. She, a slave, had accepted meat from the hand of Kamchak of the Tuchuks. She belonged
to him now. 'La Kajira," she said, putting her head down, then covering her face with her manacled hands, weeping. "La
Kajira. La Kajira" Nomads page 52-54 It was many months before this girl wore a kolar or even slave clothing.
Examples of Brands There
are many varieties of brands found on Gor. Below are listed a few of the brands commonly found on Gor. Note that in the books
a slave is usually only branded once, not by every new Master, and not with His name or initial. As the average life of a
slave having had the stabiazation serum is 400 years he/she would be a mess of ugly burned skin, after a while. Slaves do
not stay with one Master all their lives and change often as the Masters see fit.
The Kajirus Brand: Block
Letter in Gorean script of the inital of Kajirus, the letter kef, usually an inch and a half high and an inch wide.
The Kajira Brand: Cursive Letter in Gorean script of the initial of Kajira, the letter kef, usually an inch
and a half high and a half inch in width. It is a simple mark, and rather floral, a staff with two, upturned frond-like curls,
joined where the touch the staff on the right. It bears a distant resemblance to the printed letter "K" in several Western
alphabets of Earth. This brand is often referred to as the "staff and fronds brand."
Dina Brand: Named
from and shaped as the dina flower, a small, short-stemmed flower indigenous to hillsides, resembling a rose of Earth; sometimes
called the 'slave flower.'
The Kassar Brand: The standard of the Kassars is that of a scarlet,
three-weighted bola, which hangs from a lance; the symbolic representation of a bola, three circles joined at the center by
lines, is used to mark their bosk and slaves.
Tuchuk Brand: In the shape of the four bosk horns,
set in such a manner as to somewhat resemble the English letter "H." is only about an inch high. The Tuchuk brand their bosk
with the same symbol though much larger. Another type of brand found amonst the Tuchuk, is a tiny brand, in the form of spreading
bosk horns, worn on the forearm; guarantees passage for a merchant or singer, at certain seasons, across the plains of the
Wagon Peoples; occasionally permitted by the Tuchuks, who crave their wares, to approach the wagons. This acceptance brand,
of course, carries with it a certain stain of ignominy, suggesting that those who approach the wagons do so as slaves.
The Kataii Brand: The standard of the Kataii is a yellow bow, bound across a black lance; their brand is
also that of a bow, facing to the left.
Paravaci Brand: The Paravaci standard is a large banner
of jewels beaded on golden wires, forming the head and horns of a bosk its value is incalculable; the brand is a symbolic
representation of a bosk head, a semicircle resting on an inverted isoceles triangle.
The Common Brand
of the North: This brand consists of a half circle, with, at its right tip, adjoining it, a steep, diagonal line.
The half circle is about an inch and a quarter in height. This is symbolizes the bondmaid, who is also referred to as "a woman
whose belly lies beneath the sword."
Priest-Kings Brand: In the shape of the moons and collar;
consists of a locked collar and, ascending diagonally above it, extending to the right, three quarter moons; this brand indicates
the girl is subject to Gorean discipline; commonly occurs in certain of the Gorean enclaves on Earth, which serve as headquarters
for agents of the Priest-Kings.
Kurii Brand: The shape of the chain and claw; occur in the
lairs of Kurii agents on Earth; chain-and-claw brand signifies, of course, slavery and subjection with the compass of the
Kur yoke.
Penalty Brand: A penalty brand is rarely given the first offence, a slave is usually
warned and beat several times before this drastic a step is taken. A small 1/4" brand that mark a convicted liar, thief,
traitor, etc. Thief's Brand: A tiny 1/4", 3-pronged brand worn on the cheek of those of the Caste of Thieves (Port Kar).
Common Locations of the Slave Brand: The left or right thigh; sometimes on the lower left abdomen.

For The Branding Traditonal 1)The Master secures the slave in the branding rack (shaped rather like an X-shaped table, with
either snap-bracelets (manacles) for her wrists and ankles at the ends of the X, or metal rings set into the wood so her wrists
and ankles might be secured with binding fiber. A removable vise-like clamp fitted with spinning twist handles to adjust the
tension can be attached to the left leg platform, to hold the slave's left thigh motionless during the actual branding)
Plains of Turia 2)The Master secures the slave to the branding wheel. This is a wagon wheel which is laid
on the ground for the purpose of either branding or punishment. The Master, may, if He/She wishes, bind the slave to a wagon
wheel which is attached to His/Her wagon. The slave is secured by using binding fiber and tieing the wrists and ankles to
the rim of the wheel. The Master then secures the slave's left leg/thigh further by securing the thigh itself to a spoke of
the wheel so as it does not move and spoil the brand by moving. The Master holds up the heated branding iron, white hot, for
the slave to see and says,"You will soon be branded, girl."

Branding
When the brand is ready, he holds it
above here left thigh and says, "You are now to be branded, slave girl." He then brands the slave, pressing it firmly into
her skin for five full Ihn (seconds), then swiftly and cleanly removing it. He examines the mark closely, hoping that it was
clean and deep enough to create an excellent brand.
It is common Gorean practice to allow the slave the luxury of
screaming, since it is in effect her final act as free person. Sometimes assistants are standing by with small vials of oil
and salve, which they then dab onto the brand to reduce chance of infection and promote faster healing.
The Master
then frees the slave from the rack/wheel.
Free companionship
The planet of Gor does not have marriage, but has Free companionship. Its the signing of a contract,
between a Free Man and Free Woman, for the duration of one year. If, at the end of that time, both parties wish to continue,
the contract is renewed. For a Free Woman, realize that you are now under your FC. You have entrusted him to now protect you.
He will take care of you. But you also lose some of the freedom you have acquired, as he is Your FC. His word does become
your law. An FC can be chained to the end of the bed, usually the Free Woman is the one chained there.
1. When you
have found the one you feel you want to FC with, there is normally an announcement made, that you are commencing to court.
During that time, really get to know your partner. There is no set time limit for courting, as it is between the two of you.
2. When you both decide this is what you want, you will announce a date for the ceremony.
3. Write your vows
to each other as a contract.
4. After you make your contracts, then you need to make your ceremony preparations. You
need someone to Officiate it.
5. Then decide if anyone is standing with you, who is walking the Free Woman to the Free
Man, what type of ceremony you want. Use the following or change it or design your own, keeping in mind that the MOST important
part is the signing of the contracts.
6. Say your vows in front of who you wish, and sign the contract. A kiss would
be good too....grin
